More Google Services

So by now everyone knows of google as the search engine behemoth, one of the best free email services, web image search, YouTube, blog, news, picasa, and the list goes on. (adwords, analytics, wave, buzz...)

But the latest use for me and clients is reCaptcha. (http://google.com/recaptcha) A captcha service that quite frankly works nicely, and even provides an audio sample for entry. (check out my Contact page)

So I strongly suggest this, though it is another google hook, I shall embrace it with sincerity and trust as always.

Telecommute

Telecommuting:

Lately I've been finishing up:

Sitting on a few ideas...

So yes I've been sitting on a few ideas.

I enjoy Drupal, I think that version 7, whenever it comes out, will be awesome. The last chart on logarithmic projections of 0 critical errors in the release I think said February 2011, oh well it Will be worth the wait.

Drupal I chose because it just made sense to me as a CMS, not much language to learn, tons of modules, scalable. Sure some php here CSS there, no biggie. Not to mention awesome how to screencasts.

Oh and free software, thus passing savings to the client.

The 6 month update...

I've been working on sites still, new snapshots will be posted soon. Fixing computers and teaching people how to use both Windows and OSX. The small business must be diversified to survive.

Recently I faced a dilemma with a webhosting company of my client's choice which faced email forwarding trouble. For some reason both Gmail and AOL decided to stop receiving forwards from my client's domain.

Simple GMaps

I've been fooling around with the GMap functionality of Drupal.

Here's a simple map

Finishing up, but really is it ever?

So I'm finishing up some websites. I've already posted them on this site. But for professional sites is there really an end?

I've been working on the SEO side now. And am finding it's an endless tunnel. I usually refer clients to professional SEO companies. But I tend not to turn down work when it's something I feel that I can handle.

So though some of my sites may not seem to change it may not be the client or me, it may just be non user changes that are occuring.

Things like keywords, clean urls, titles and other meta data.

Working along the way...

So I'm still working on some projects. More and more clients are demanding quick makeovers, then later implementations of the final product. I think this is because the clients have held out for the update and have numerous quick changes they'd like displayed off the bat.

I've always like to do a mockup then implementation.

Blogging again...

Well surely I could spoof the site and say that I wrote this a while back, but truthfully I haven't blogged in a while.

Things I've noticed:

  • long term contracts are good
  • growth is great
  • life is good

Over the past few months many things have happened.

I've kept up with my contracts, and I've been finding new ones.  Many new projects will be added to this site shortly.  I almost started another Web Business but I've decided that Code in Motion is for me.

Implementing Web 2.0

So far, I now have APNBA, The McShin Foundation, Thomas Nolen, realtor, and some non-company websites pulling in tweets from their twitter account and displaying them on the site.

Past states of codeinmotion.com

I upgraded or you could rather say changed codeinmotion.com to Drupal, from Ruby on Rails.

I did this to give it quick make over, and take advantage of the rapid prototyping I had learned with my drupal site building over the past few months. Also to reflect the changes which the company has endured.

Drupal seems to give the developer (hardly a deserved name) the ability to implement pre-coded modules that require little modification to function in a default mode.
